About This Project

With the development of two new programmes, Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology (Building Information Modeling, BIM) and (Green Energy and Efficient Buildings, GEEB) the refurbishment of the existing room is needed to make room for a purpose built BIM LAB consisting of 20 nos. of workstation area, meeting area, resource centre, pantry and a server room.

Main works involves architecture & interior design for the spaces and later the demolition & refurbishment works during the implementation stage. Special M&E works are also required for the electrical & data items for the workstation, air-conditioning and lighting. A site visit has been made to study the site existing condition along with obtaining the as-built drawings in order to fit the project brief into the design concept accordingly.

The use of perforated screen cladding around the inside and outside of the room with mild steel finish gives a unique character as well as providing transparency to the interior space. The screen can also be used for displaying of works. The lounge area is equipped with ample lighting with the workstation provides a relaxing vibe to the space. The industrial look in the design is further enchanced with the use of track lighting in the foreground of dark coloured exposed ceiling and finally the use of glass wall for meeting area gives a sense of visual freedom and at the same time giving privacy for discussion especially in a small room.
